Here's my heart: that we might create a haven for our husbands, who see so much of the filth in our world on a daily basis. That we might cover our husbands' departments with prayer-prayer for safety & peace and spiritual revival. That hearts would change in our country for LE, that LEOs would be respected.

Calling all lurkers
I've been considering deleting this blog-I think it's only my friends reading it and maybe a few people who randomly stumble upon it. If that's the case, I might as well just combine the blogs and just post this stuff at my other blog. So, if this is seriously ministering to anyone-speak out now. You can email me at allgirlhomeschool@yahoo.com if you're not the commenting type.

Hi Wendy,
I found your blog while I was searching for information on Christian support groups for wives' of Police Officers. You are correct; there is limited information on being a Christian wife of someone in Law Enforcement. So, I totally support your blog and thank God I found it. God has placed this ministry on your heart for a reason. I will do what I can to get the information out to other wives about your blog. Please don’t give up!
As you are aware, marriage isn't an easy road and being married to someone in Law Enforcement makes that road even more challenging. My husband has been a Police Officer for 7 years. Prior to that, he was a Correctional Officer, Security Officer and was in the military for 3 years. We have been married for almost 17 years and have 3 beautiful children. Out of those 17 years, we have separated four times and have survived a countless number of situations that make most people ask, “How in the world do you sleep at night?” Yes; I’ve experienced the devastating knock in the middle of the night from a police officer who told me that my husband had been shot. And that was when he was a Security Officer! One would think that this would have discouraged him from becoming a Police Officer, but I can honestly say that he had a special calling from above to serve and protect. Just recently, he had to protect himself by shooting someone and that person died. The next day, we gathered together as a family to give praise to God for my husband being alive and to pray for the family of the person who died.
During our last separation, I was faced with the decision to either fight for my marriage or give up. Our marriage was at a dead end and in the eyes of the world, we should have divorced. But, God showed me otherwise. He showed me that nothing is impossible with Him and the path He had chosen for me was to fight! I knew that this path wouldn’t be easy. However, as much as God has called my husband to be a Police Officer, he has also called me to be the wife of a Police Officer. And as difficult as it may be at times, it is a great honor.
God has placed it on my heart to start a Christian support group in our area for wives’ of LEOs. My vision is to not only have a support group for the wives, but also a group that provides support and brings recognition to our LEOs. Our first meeting will be on 2/1 to generate ideas about the group. I am reaching out to as many people as I can to get advice. I will keep you updated on the progress. Also, I’m not sure if you are aware of the Life Way Christian Law Enforcement Summit that is held each year in Ridgecrest, NC and Glorieta, NM. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 37:4-7: “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” I cling to this when things don’t turn out the way I think they should and I feel discouraged. God reminds me to be patient. I will pray for you and your righteous cause. God bless.
Rita, that is such an encouraging comment, thank you so much for sharing from your heart. 17 years of marriage is a testimony! Thank you, thank you-I'll be emailing you back shortly.
Don't give up Wendy - it takes a lot of work and sometimes a long time to establish a group - but I've found if you can help just one or make just one friend - it is ALL worth it!
Hang in there Rita - it's not easy to be a copswife - or a wife in general but it CAN be done. Hubby and I will soon celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary - he's been a cop 20 of those yrs - we started as teen parents and have been together 27 yrs now. Our girls are both in their 20's. We too are Christians and credit God for getting us through it all - hubby shot and killed a suspect 5 yrs into his career - and I now investigate death after starting out assisting in autopsies... I can't even put into words what it does to the mind to work on a child...
